PARTNERING WITH PARENTS
IN THE DISCIPLESHIP
OF THEIR KIDS

God has entrusted children to parents as a sacred gift and a holy responsibility. Scripture calls mothers and fathers to raise their children “in the discipline and instruction of the Lord” (Ephesians 6:4), teaching them to love God, know His Word, and walk in obedience to Him. This calling is not optional or secondary—it is a central part of Christian discipleship.

We believe the primary responsibility for the spiritual formation of children belongs to parents, not the church. The church’s role is to come alongside families, supporting, encouraging, and equipping them as they faithfully carry out this God-given duty. Raising children in the way of the Lord is both a joyful privilege and a weighty stewardship. We seek to be a church that honors this calling, upholds parents in it, and labors together so that the next generation may know, love, and serve the Lord all the days of their lives.

To partner with parents in this glorious calling, we provide a children's ministry on Sunday mornings for newborns up through Kindergarten. Children in first grade and older are enthusiastically welcomed into the worship gathering and are invited to grab a busy bag or sermon notes to help them engage.

"One generation shall commend your works to another,

and shall declare your mighty acts."
Psalm 145:4

ABOUT SC KIDS

WE VALUE FAMILY-INTEGRATED WORSHIP

We love having children worship with us. At our church, families are welcome to stay together in the service because we believe children benefit greatly, even if a lot of it goes over their head. We delight in hearing the sounds of little voices, seeing restless legs, and watching kids learn—week by week—what it means to sing, pray, listen to God’s Word, and take part in the life of the church. Worshiping along side by side parents held kids form habits of reverence, attention, and joy in the Lord, and reminds all of us that the church is not divided by age, but united as one family in Christ.

We don’t expect perfection from kids—or parents. We offer grace, patience, and encouragement as families grow together in the practice of worship.

NURSERY & PRESCHOOL

While we love and encourage family-integrated worship, we also provide nursery and preschool classes for the full duration of our gathering. This is offered as a loving service to parents and a warm hospitality to visitors who may benefit from additional support with little ones.

Our nursery and preschool environments are safe, joyful, and nurturing, with caring volunteers who desire to serve families well. This option allows parents—especially those in particularly demanding seasons—to engage more fully in singing, prayer, and the preaching of God’s Word, knowing their children are being well cared for.

Whether you choose to keep your children with you in the service or take advantage of our nursery and preschool care, we want you to feel welcomed, supported, and free to worship without pressure or guilt. Our heart is to come alongside families and help make the gathered worship of God’s people a joy for all.

KINDERGARTEN

Our kindergarten class is a joyful part of our worshiping community. Each Sunday, our youngest learners remain in the service for the liturgy and worship, joining their families as we pray, sing, and hear God’s Word read together. During the sermon, they are dismissed to their class, where loving teachers provide age-appropriate instruction, activities, and care that reinforce the truths of the gospel. This rhythm helps our children learn both how to worship with the whole church and how to grow as disciples of Jesus in a setting designed just for them.

SAFETY

We care deeply about the safety of your children. Our nursery and preschool are led by loving, well-prepared volunteers who have completed background checks and basic safety training.

We use a simple check-in and check-out system with a staffed login station so each child is released only to the right parent or guardian. Our leaders are attentive and present, and we do our best to create a calm, secure, and joyful place for little ones.

Our desire is for parents to be able to worship with confidence, knowing their children are being cared for responsibly and with genuine love.
